Lawrence County Youth Speak Out
Lawrence County is full of extremely talented young people. One of the most valued skills any of us can hope to master is public speaking. Just the thought of it makes many adults cringe.
Fortunately for our up and coming leaders, they are able to get training and practice in this treasured area. Some of the best public speakers in Lawrence County competed on January 29th at E. O. Coffman.
These 4-H competitors ranged from fourth to twelfth grades. The topics varied, and the abilities abounded! The judges provided by the Lawrence County Kiwanis Club are consistently impressed. This year was no exception.
The County public speaking winners that will compete at the Sub-Regional level (4th through 8th grades) include;
Taylor Prince, 4th grade, NPS;
Hunter Jones, 5th grade, SES;
T.J. Daniels, 6th grade, EES; and
Joanna Helton, 7th grade, SES.
The senior high winners that will represent Lawrence County at the Regional contest are: John Calvin Bryant,
9th grade, LCHS; Mallory Hogan,
11th grade, homeschooled; and Hannah Rhodes,
12th grade, homeschooled.
Lawrence County 4-H has a long history of excellent public speakers. Please help us keep this tradition going by encouraging the 4-H members you know with their speeches and demonstrations.
The public speaking contest and all other Tennessee Extension programs are offered to all eligible persons regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, veteran status or disability.
